The epidermis of men is even 20% thicker than that of women. It contains 32 layers whereas women’s epidermis has only 20 layers. Due to a higher content of collagen and elastin and a thicker layer of fat, the men’s skin ages more slowly and retains its elasticity longer. Although wrinkles come up later at men than women, they are deeper and more visible. Shaving is a natural kind of peeling, it reduces the tendency for dry skin and firms the skin but influences the skin disadvantageously because it removes its natural protective layer and causes irritations and dehydration.
