Breakthrough in body care

In recent years, the notion of beauty has become a deeply holistic concept. We reach for colorful cosmetics less and less often, and we increasingly decide on comprehensive skin care. We devote more time to home rituals, taking care of our well-being and dealing with stress. Our daily care routine is composed based on high awareness of individual needs of our body. The whole body, not only the face and neck, whose surface occupies only 5.5% of the total surface of our skin. Our skin protects us from pollution, bacteria and viruses. Every day it is exposed to harmful UV radiation, severe temperatures and the drying effects of detergents. By taking care of our body, we take care not only of a beautiful and youthful appearance, but also of our health and well-being.

Caring for your skin, we have developed the latest line of Dr Irena Eris PROSYSTEM HOME CARE cosmetics – a complement and continuation of professional care, strengthening and prolonging the effects of body, hand and foot treatments. The Dr Irena Eris BODY LabFORMULA collection is a breakthrough in home skin care. You can find the cosmetics in Dr Irena Eris Skin Care Institutes, as well as in Dr Irena Eris Beauty Partner salons. Our formulas have been developed and tested in cooperation with the Dr Irena Eris Center for Science and Research, which guarantees their effectiveness at every stage of care.

Tailor-made skin care - what should we look for in body cosmetics?

When choosing body care cosmetics, it is worth paying attention to the fact that the skin on our body differs significantly from the skin of the face, which includes individual layers’ thickness, as well as presence of an additional layer – the epidermis. British scientists conducting research on cell morphology and the barrier function of the skin have proven that stratum corneum of the facial epidermis is thinner, keratinized cells are smaller, and proliferation, i.e. the process of cell multiplication, occurs at a faster rate compared to the skin of the forearm. It has also been proven that average TEWL value (transepidermal water loss) for the skin of the forearm was almost twice as low as for the skin of the cheek. The skin on the soles of feet contains more fat cells in the subcutaneous layer than in most other parts of the body, because our feet need extra padding and cushioning. In turn, our hands, which are most exposed to regular contact with detergents and disinfectants, require lipid supplementation more than any other part of our body.

Therefore, even if the barrier functions of the body skin seem to be better developed, it is important to remember that it is often more exposed to harmful effects of environmental factors, and its specific characteristics are inseparably linked to its special needs.

Active ingredients

The selection of active ingredients with regard to the needs of the body skin and application site is a key element in developing a proper care strategy. When developing the formulas of cosmetics from the BODY LabFORMULA line, created with specific requirements of the skin in mind, we selected active ingredients that work together, demonstrating moisturizing, nourishing, smoothing and repairing effects, supporting cell regeneration and protecting the skin from harmful external factors.

Undaria pinnatifida brown alga

In BODY LabFORMULA cosmetics, the spotlight is on the Undaria pinnatifida alga, more commonly known as brown alga. It is a rich source of fucoxanthin and fucoidan. Fucoxanthin has a protective effect against photoaging induced by UVB radiation. Studies have also demonstrated fucoxanthin’s ability to activate genes encoding proteins that are key in the proper organization of the extracellular matrix – a substance filling the space between skin cells, playing an important role in growth, movement and other cell functions. Fucoidan allows for reduction of ROS (reactive oxygen species) production in cells, as well as inhibition of synthesis of inflammatory or degrading factors. U. pinnatifida extract can therefore counteract the symptoms of skin photoaging, reducing the negative effects of ultraviolet radiation in a wide range.

LactiProtect Complex

The LactiProtect complex contained in BODY LabFORMULA cosmetics strengthens hydrogen bonds between water molecules and –OH groups in amino acids that build epidermal proteins, primarily keratin. They interact with the proteins of the stratum corneum of the epidermis, affecting its ability to bind water.

Endonuclease, a repair enzyme

With age, physiological cell repair processes lose their efficiency, and exposure to solar radiation, negative external factors or reactive oxygen species can lead to cell damage. Endonuclease, a repair enzyme that recognizes and removes damaged DNA fragments, prevents their accumulation in genetic material. By using a liposomal dermal transport system, endonuclease is delivered to deeper layers and released into cells in an appropriate environment. Scientists from the Dr Irena Eris Center for Science and Research have proven the effect of endonuclease on weakening of the skin’s immune functions after exposure to UV radiation. Studies have shown that endonuclease enclosed in stable phospholipid carriers reduces the level of proteins characteristic of the inflammatory reaction and also protects against increased synthesis of harmful enzymes in response to UV radiation.

Ceramides and hydration

Ceramides, which constitute 30 to 40% of the epidermis, ensure integrity of the stratum corneum. They ensure maintenance of an appropriate hydration level, while protecting against penetration of irritating external factors and allergens into the skin. Ceramides also determine proper functioning of the hydrolipid barrier of the epidermis. Supplementing their level has not only a cosmetic effect – it significantly affects healthy functioning of the skin, preventing development of contact dermatitis.

Vitamin PP

Niacinamide, also known as vitamin PP, reduces permeability of blood vessels. It stimulates synthesis of keratin and ceramides, moisturizing the skin and limiting water loss through the epidermis. It smooths the skin, has an anti-wrinkle effect, as well as brightens discolorations and prevents yellowing of the skin. Vitamin PP also demonstrates immunosuppressive action, increasing the skin’s tolerance to harmful effects of UV rays.

Retinol

Appreciated in facial skin care, retinol is also useful in body care products. Also known as vitamin A, it is sometimes called the vitamin of youth. It works comprehensively, stimulating production of skin support fibers – collagen and elastin. It inhibits activity of MMPs, enzymes involved in the physiological and pathological processes of rebuilding the components of the extracellular matrix. Retinol also stimulates cell division. It is an ideal ingredient that counteracts loss of skin elasticity and reduces visibility of discolorations, restoring the body’s smoothness and radiant appearance.

Fruit juice extracts

The last, but certainly not the least important ingredient of cosmetics from the BODY LabFORMULA line are fruit juice extracts, rich sources of vitamins, carbohydrates, alpha-hydroxy acids and anthocyanins. They enhance the processes of exfoliation of dead skin and cell renewal, support the natural processes of neutralizing free radicals and, by sealing blood vessels, have a positive effect on the content of collagen and elastin in the skin.

How to properly care for your body skin? Three stages of holistic care.

Imperfections on the body skin appear differently than on the face, which is why proper body skincare begins with cleansing. Gentle surfactants help remove impurities from the skin’s surface without disrupting the proper function of the hydrolipid barrier.

  • 1

In the skin cleansing process, exfoliation should not be overlooked—removing dead skin cells enhances absorption of active ingredients in subsequent skincare steps. Regular exfoliation also stimulates skin regeneration and helps clear pores. Special attention should be given to the skin on the back, a challenging area for a straightforward reason: it’s difficult to reach, making proper care harder to achieve. Residues from skin or hair cleansing products can accumulate there, potentially leading to pimples. That is why it is essential to thoroughly cleanse and dry the back after each bath or shower.

  • 2

Skincare cosmetics, the second stage of comprehensive body care, should be applied immediately after bathing. They help protect the skin from bacteria, viruses, and irritations, as well as prevent water loss by supporting regeneration of the hydrolipid barrier. The BODY LabFORMULA line includes four cosmetics for professional home skin care – balm, cream, serum and concentrate. Choose the one whose properties best suit the individual needs of your skin or use them interchangeably.

  • 3

The structure of body skin varies greatly. In the upper part of the back, we observe the greatest concentration of sebaceous glands, whereas on the skin of the hands and feet there are practically none. Our feet and hands require separate, dedicated care. This is the third stage of home skin care.

Hands are our showpiece, our work tool, they are responsible for receiving stimuli and are particularly vulnerable to harmful factors. It is essential to keep them properly moisturized, as cracked, dry, and sensitive hands are more prone to conditions like contact dermatitis. Although awareness of the dangers posed by UV radiation has increased in recent years, and SPF filters in every possible form have become a permanent part in the skin care routine of millions of women, we often forget that in addition to our face and neck, we should also protect our hands from the sun. Regardless of the weather or season, it is worth having an SPF hand cream on hand, reapplying it after each washing.

Just like hands, feet also require comprehensive and dedicated care. The skin on the soles of the feet contains more fat cells in the subcutaneous layer than most other parts of the body, providing extra padding and cushioning our feet need. With every step, our feet bear up to three times the body’s weight. They are also often subjected to additional manual pressures, such as friction from tight or ill-fitting shoes and the impact of extensive walking or running.

Proper footwear, along with an appropriate care routine—moisturizing, softening, and exfoliating—helps the skin on the feet perform its functions effectively

Home care

Professional care and body treatments are also worth mentioning. Treatments such as oxygen infusion, microdermabrasion or body peels restore skin’s softness, firmness and proper circulation. Regular use of properly selected care cosmetics after body treatments supports the health of the skin and accelerates its regeneration. Combining the effects of treatments and home care also extends and maximizes their effects

The Multi-extract from concentrated aqueous fruit juices contained in the scrub, rich in vitamins, minerals and acids, has a keratolytic effect, refreshing and cleansing the skin. Blackcurrant oil provides protection and regeneration of the skin. Peach oil with strong regenerative properties strengthens the structure and evens out the skin tone. Revitalizing Sugar Scrub is thick and spreads nicely on the skin. It does not leave a greasy layer, washes off well, and its particles slowly dissolve during body massage. For optimal results of home care, we recommend exfoliating the entire body surface with Revitalizing Sugar Scrub 2 or 3 times a week, supporting the action of other products from the BODY LabFORMULA line.

Smoothing & Nourishing Body Cream

The Smoothing & Nourishing Body Cream ensures optimal skin hydration, improves skin elasticity and firmness. The olive wax contained in the cream provides an immediate dose of nourishment. Hyaluronic acid present in the cream creates a hydrophilic, light layer on the skin, restores its firmness, elasticity and smooths through secondary rehydration of its upper layers. The Smoothing & Nourishing Body Cream also contains natural antioxidants, Shea butter and vitamin E, protecting against oxidative stress and the effects of photoaging. Caffeine ensures intensive stimulation of metabolism, promoting removal of toxins and better tissue regeneration. The extract from the brown Undaria pinnatifida macroalga improves the skin structure by activating 14 genes responsible for youthful appearance. By improving the synthesis of collagen and elastin fibers, it stimulates repair processes, leading to increased firmness and elasticity. The cream is extremely efficient and absorbs quickly. The excellent effectiveness of the cream is accompanied by its silky consistency and pleasant scent.

Moisturizing & Illuminating Body Balm

The formula of the Moisturizing & Illuminating Body Balm is enhanced by an extract from bilberries, cane sugar, orange, lemon and maple sugar. The extract is a rich source of EFAs – essential unsaturated fatty acids, higher carboxylic acids, which are not synthesized in the body, but are necessary for proper functioning. Blackcurrant oil restores hydrolipid homeostasis, strengthening the natural protective barrier and limiting the process of transepidermal water loss. As a result, it provides optimal hydration and at the same time stimulates natural regenerative and conditioning processes. The effect of softness to the touch and elasticity of the skin is enhanced by peach oil, which stimulates the natural reconstruction process, improving the structure and tone. Additional renewal is provided by nourishing Shea butter and vitamin E. The balm contains illuminating particles, smaller and more delicate than glitter, giving the skin a gentle, unobtrusive glow effect.

Active Rejuvenating Body Serum

The Active Rejuvenating Body Serum with DNA microrepair technology contains a special enzyme enclosed in innovative submicron carriers that precisely reach the cell nucleus, ensuring DNA repair of skin cells. The repair protein reduces the level of molecules characteristic of the inflammatory reaction induced by UV radiation and inhibits the synthesis of enzymes that destroy skin support fibers, whereas a complex, biotechnological peptide, weakening the action of enzymes that break down the structures of the extracellular matrix, regenerates collagen and elastin fibers. The serum also contains a black pearl extract, which stimulates metabolism in cells, making the skin illuminated and elastic. The Active Rejuvenating Body Serum reduces the volume, depth and number of depressions on the skin. After using the serum, the skin is taut, firm and smooth just as after a SPA treatment.

Algae Concentrate for the Body - Gene Activator

The Algae Concentrate for the Body – Gene Activator contains the proprietary Body Intelli-GEN algae complex, which, by regulating the action of over 20 genes, stimulates multi-level cell renewal and thus restores the skin’s youthful appearance. The U. Pinnatifida extract, reactivating dormant genes encoding the synthesis of elastin fibers, collagen and hyaluronic acid, visibly improves the skin’s structure, increasing its firmness and tension. The Blue micro-algae extract, rich in amino acids and B vitamins, stimulates the process of renewal and growth of the epidermis, significantly smoothing and thickening the skin. The concentrate’s effect is enhanced by duo-retinol, ensuring an optimal level of hydration and improving the skin tone of the body. The Algae Concentrate for the Body – Gene Activator also contains a sunscreen SPF 20, protecting against the adverse effects of UV rays and reducing the likelihood of discoloration.

The Algae Concentrate from the BODY LabFORMULA series is the perfect culmination of GENOMIX BODY – ALGAE GENE ACTIVATION, a firming body treatment, which, depending on the indications, is also performed with a classic massage or lymphatic drainage, as well as with Body Wrapping.

Smoothing & Regenerating Hand Cream

The Smoothing & Regenerating Hand Cream is a combination of sun protection and hand skin care, essential in your daily routine. The SPF 20 filter contained in the cream protects against UV radiation and free radicals, as well as prevents sun discoloration. Protecting your hands with a cream with an SPF filter is especially important for women who choose hybrid manicure and whose hands are regularly exposed to UV radiation. Vitamin PP, which plays an important role in the processes related to collagen biosynthesis and ceramide production, stimulates the regeneration processes, delays skin aging and prevents discoloration. Nourishing olive wax supports the processes of epidermis reconstruction. Almond oil with softening properties, strengthens the lipid protective barrier, protects against the negative impact of external factors, also has a beneficial effect on the cuticles around the nail. Vitamin E, a natural antioxidant, protects against oxidative stress and photoaging, as well as provides protection for the nail plate and has a strengthening effect and improves circulation under the nails. The Smoothing & Regenerating Hand Cream increases skin elasticity and hydration, improves the softness of the epidermis and supports cell regeneration. It quickly improves the condition of hands, even very dry ones. It is efficient and absorbs quickly, leaving the skin feeling moisturized without a greasy film. We suggest using the cream after every hand wash.

We also recommend the Smoothing & Regenerating Hand Cream as home care after manicure treatments, regardless of the type of varnish used, as well as after hand care treatments, e.g. the intensively exfoliating ACIDS PEEL FORMULA treatment for hands and COMPLETE HAND SMOOTHING, a nourishing and smoothing repair treatment.

Smoothing & Nourishing Foot Mask

The LactiProtect complex of intensively moisturizing active substances contained in the Smoothing & Nourishing Foot Mask, enriched with amino acids, urea, lactic acid, strengthens the skin’s protective barrier, preventing transepidermal water loss. Rice oil, valued in Korean care, with exceptional moisturizing properties, also has strong protective effects – it restores natural homeostasis by stimulating cell division processes. Jojoba oil, rich in fatty acids, nourishes and moisturizes the skin. It also supports normalization of the process of reconstruction and keratinization of the epidermis, reducing roughness, dryness and thickening. Shea butter soothes and regenerates the stratum corneum of the skin. The mask also contains valuable vitamin E. The Foot Mask from the BODY LabFORMULA line provides the skin with deep and long-lasting moisturization from the first use, as well as an immediate smoothing effect. It regenerates even very damaged skin and softens the epidermis.

The Smoothing & Nourishing Foot Mask will work perfectly as an extension of Dr. Irena Eris’s signature foot care treatments, the intensively exfoliating ACIDS PEEL FORMULA treatment for feet and COMPLETE FOOT REGENERATION, a smoothing and regenerating treatment for feet with elements of lymphatic drainage or reflexology.
